The delegation headed by the SAM Deputy Director Gulshan Pashayeva paid a visit to Poland on December 12-18 2011. The delegation consisting of SAM leading research fellows Reshad Karimov and Vusal Gasimli, as well as, ADA foreign policy program director Aygun Hajiyeva participated in the conference entitled “EU Eastern Partnership and Azerbaijan: Challenges and Perspectives”. The delegation visited the leading think tanks of Poland and met with their experts. During the visit the Academic and Research Cooperation Agreement was signed between SAM and the Center for Political Analysis of Warsaw University
On December 13, SAM, Embassy of Azerbaijan in Poland, Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM) and National School of Public Administration (KSAP) jointly organized the conference “EU Eastern Partnership and Azerbaijan: Challenges and Perspectives” which was attended by over 100 participants. SAM leading research fellows Reshad Karimov and Vusal Gasimli, ADA representative Aygun Hajiyeva, as well as, the expert of the Sobieski Institute Tomasz Chamal, independent expert Maciej Voźniak, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland Jarosław Dziedzic and the expert of PISM Igor Lyubashenko delivered reports at the conference. The role of Azerbaijan in the EU energy security, various security affairs, more active involvement of the EU into the settlement process of Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, democratic development and human rights issues in Azerbaijan were among the topics discussed at the conference. Closed roundtable meeting dedicated to Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was held on December 14 with the participation of the representatives of PISM, KSAP and SAM.
Within the framework of the visit the Academic and Research Cooperation Agreement was signed between SAM and the Center for Political Analysis of Warsaw University on December 15. The main goal of the document is development of research collaboration, facilitation of experience sharing and consultations on contemporary politics, as well as, socio-economic and cultural affairs. The signing ceremony of the Agreement was also attended by Hasan Hasanov, the ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Poland .
The members of the delegation participated in the meetings took place at the Warsaw University Oriental Institute and the Center for Eastern Studies. They also participated as the main speakers at the meetings “Energy Policy of Azerbaijan – Relations with Russia, Iran and Turkey” organized by the Casimir Pulaski Foundation and “Foreign Policy of Azerbaijan” organized by the European Academy of Diplomacy.
Within the framework of the visit, the SAM delegation participated it the event dedicated to the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Poland .
